[Entrance Interview, Starfleet Academy Stardate ***** Captain Shelard Maxis, Starfleet Medical reporting]
[Tags; Avery Silver]
In the series of three interviews with a young man by the name of Avery Silver I have motioned for him to be accepted as mentally and physically stable for Starfleet Officer training. The following is a summary of the information Mr. Silver divulged during our conversations:
[/Start File]
Avery is an eighteen year old, full blood Betaziod Male. He was born on the Federation Providence of N'Shadda. This was a far out colony. I was not terribly familiar with it when he had mentioned it. His parents were diplomats that were asked to assist in the establishment of a human colony. However during the worlds eighth year it fell into political disarray. Eventually the government fell and became an Anarchist ruled world. The Federation, from the Files I was able to find (and there were not many, much "hush hush" on the subject) decided that the colony was a total loss and refused to help until they could resolve their own internal disputes. There was much fighting and bloodshed between people. Avery's Parents were amongst the casualties. Avery was only seven and apparently the only Betazoid, Telepath on the planet. There were periodic attempts made by certain ambassadors to quell the fighting. Mainly one Ullian who frequently volunteered for the job, and being that he had a reputation for success was allowed to. However he was not able to stop the fighting. After about nine years of guerrilla warfare a government body was able to hold onto power enough to bring the colony to a solid peace. Avery had been a bit sketchy about how he was able to survive such a chaotic conflict, he only said he does not wish to talk about it. He did say that it taught him how to read people in a way that most telepaths have never done before. He also said he was forced to use his Betazoid traits to protect himself. He didn't say how he accomplished this.
When he was seventeen he was able to secure a place on a spice freighter which traveled between systems. He functioned as a sub-apprentice engine mechanic. The craft was old and he often times had to build engine components on the fly to keep the ship going. He had mentioned that he did enjoy this work but he was determined to get into the security force. Eventually he made his way to earth and applied to Starfleet Academy where he has been subjected to my regiment of mental exercises to ensure a integral officer. I have not found reason to deny him, although the events of his past seem to have hardened him, he still seems to be a carefree and potentially valuable asset.

[General Education, Engineering Theory and Application, Record of Note, Commander Brooks, Corp of Engineers]

Avery took my class in his 3rd year. A required class as part of all starfleet officer training. Avery however was a case of note. He, despite being on a security track, was very good at creating just about anything. He wrapped his head around concepts that took most corp engineers years to learn. He also had a knack for replicator and cybernetic technology. He had said once that the size and the dimensions of a device is kind of irrelevant now with the advent of replicator technology. One of his group projects was to create a device that served a purpose and was usable. His groups was one of the devices of note. They had built a semi-intelligent, maintenance tool. a more/less robotic construct that could replicate tools as needed. It was built with the short lived Exocomps in mind. However Avery and his team expounded on the idea and created a dynamic chassis for the machine. Avery utilized replicator technology to allowed the tool to take on many different shapes. For example it could make itself about 2cm thick at its widest point by compacting it's circuitry and rebuilding and replicating itself back. I have enclosed the schematics in this report. Although it probably is very impractical to use being that human engineers are preferred to machines. it does have much potential.
After his completing of this course with very high marks I had mentioned to him that he should consider an engineering track instead of the security. He refused, saying that he was best with a weapon and guarding those who are important, and removing those who would threaten that. I could see that he had been through much of that. I suggested that he still keep it in mind and maybe take an engineering minor. He again said he wouldn't be very good being that violence had been all he knew.
He did however end up taking several other courses in fleet engineering and astrophysics.

Avery joined my corp he was hot headed and very cocky. I had to put him in his place very quickly. Although I would say that he was very proficient warrior before he began his training. I had read the report that he came from a planet in deep turmoil. During his training he displayed an uncanny intuition and perception. Often while on survival, weapons training, and CTF exercises he seemed to be hide his position from everyone. He also seemed to mask his actions. For example he often would sneak past those guarding the flag without raising notice, and would return to their base also undetected. He was an excellent point man, as well as a sniper. He had the best eyes out of any person I have put through security training. He also had an almost strange obsession with explosives.
At this point he is ready for his commission and being sent onto a ship. he will be an exemplary officer.

During my training sessions, Cadet Silver has shown himself to
be an excellent fighter pilot; throughout the first semester, he had
excelled in both starfighter theory and air-to-ground combat, and was
able to earn a place with my elite training unit. His engineering skill
and the unique ideas that he has been able to come up with needs to be
tempered with experience, but must also be encouraged. When he
graduates, his midshipman cruise will give him the practical experience
that he needs to match up with the theoretical experience that he has,
and he will become an excellent officer with either Starfighter Command
or the Starfleet Corps of Engineers.

[Exit Report, Captain Siefer Stone, USS Yggdrasill NCC 38295, Akira Class]

Avery came on board my ship as a shipboard weapons maintenance supervisor. He was an Ensign who oversaw the working of the shipboard weapons systems. He still worked his bi-weekly security patrol but mainly hung around in the primary photon torpedo launcher bay. He was an exemplary officer. He, even though was not at the time an engineer he often times would show the Chief Engineer the best way to realign the phase coils. His main highlight while he was on my ship was during a random errant Dominion attack. It was a Jem'Hadar Destroyer that went rogue after the cease fire, thet apparently didn't believe in peace. Well they had gone mad coming off the drug ketracel white and decided the Yggdrasill was the best target.
We were caught with our pants down. They gave no warning, just blazed in guns blasting. They took out our weapons first obviously. On these Akira class vessels they are easier targets. Well our whole torpedo bay was flooded immediately with coolant trying to prevent an explosion of the warheads but that left us with only 3 banks of phasers, which against a destroyer, that isn't much. Well he had to get those torpedo's firing if we were to have a chance. So he suited into a low-gee Env-suit and pretty much walked into the coolant filled bay. He was able to makeshift build a launcher rail and manual load, aim, and fire warheads, even in all that muck. According to his report, he used the coolant as the propellant, just amazing. after a long firefight we disabled the Jem'Hadar craft. Avery was badly burned in the process, and almost didn't make it. But he pulled through. I toured the damage after we were in a safe area and how anyone could have survived a partial vacuum while being blasted with coolant and still focus and repair things is way beyond me. He was commended by myself for his actions. I am sad to loose him as an officer, but he is going to be trained as an engineer in one of the best places anyone could hope to be; Utopia Planitia.
He will be deeply missed

Avery reported shortly after his alleged amazing ingenious torpedo endeavor. He had many ideas and felt very good about himself. He however had never been to the corp schools and never had studied with the masters of warp theory. He had come to me at the request of a rear admiral who thought he may have potential in this area. I am at this point a bit skeptical He has been assigned to the Post Prometheus, Beta project as Minor Propulsion Apprentice. Here he will learn all about the things he had missed by not going through the corp schooling. I expect he will not handle the stain his new master will put on him.
[Log: Stardate *******]
It has been seven week since Mr Silver arrived into my company. In that time he, with no schooling aside from the few weeks of courses we have given him, has been able to point out sever mistakes with some of Master Sypho's warp theorem. He despite our misgivings has personally replaced the intermix coolant tanks on our Prometheus, in less time then I could myself. He has shown much promise now. He has been through the Prometheus schematics over and over. He can tell me where to find the Gel-pack that controls the main DYS system. even the minute details of a system he can seem to remember with almost no efforts. he can hear a phase inducer mis-alignment. amazing.

It has been 4 months since Avery's arrival here. He has learned all we can teach him on the Beta project. We are moving him to the production line of the Akira, Intrepid, Defiant, and Beowulf vessels. Aside from the intrepid they are all combat vessels. here he will learn the newer Quantum arsenal as well as the pulsing systems on the Defiant class vessels. He is already familiar with the Akira, but now he will get some good time with the guts of his old vessel. The Beowulf is a newer, larger frigate that it comparable to the Sovereign size. If he performs well here we will move him to the sovereign line.

Avery has hit his year mark with us. He has learned everything we can throw at his with exceptional ease. He does struggle a bit sometimes with interpersonal relationships with the rest of the staff. Some of the crew has mentioned that at times he seems very cold and withdrawn. He completely ingratiates himself with his work until it is completed. However his diligence has proved very useful as he always completes his work. We are moving him now over to the Sovereign project. Here he will learn the most modern of ship systems.
[Log Stardate *******]
Avery has just received a billet to the USS Excalibur. They are in need of a Chief Engineer and they feel that Avery is ready for this task despite his junior grade rank. I believe he is close to being ready for his own ship. However I do not make those decisions, Command does. Avery has learned everything I could teach him. He has studied under me personally during much of his time here. Sometimes I think he knows my designs better then I do. He will make an excellent Chief at his next command.

The years between when Avery Silver was a cadet and now have not
diminished his skills any. Under my command, he quickly rose to the
grade of lieutenant commander and he never disappointed me with his
skill as a chief engineer. During our exploratory mission, he was a
valuable asset as chief engineer, a fighter pilot, and an assistant
trainer for the fighter squadron that was assigned to the Excalibur.

N'Shadda had become a neusance, however the Federation requires the resources buried there. High concentration of the composite called <error> which the Federation cannot ignore. it has been decided that we will implace our own interm government but cannot be over about out interjections. We have facilitated the procuring of a small band of fighters. We have equiped them with weapons and munitions to aid them in the aquiring of said Government. There was a young Betazoid named A<error>y S!1\/3r. He is the only telapath on the planet, therefore he will be a great asset to us. He will be trained by a Ullian named <Garbled> who will help him use he Telepathy in a most invasive way. He will also be fitted with a device we aquired and modified from the Obsidian Order. here are the schematics of the device:
[piece file missing]
We will not allow anyone on planet to know that an outside force is assisting them, aside from the Ulian <Garble> who will be based on planet. I will brief you more in 6 weeks.

A<error>y has taken well to his training very will, the Ulian has shown him how to completely mask himself from others perception. Perfect sniper. Unless he calls attention to himself or becomes too obvious. But is he is any cover he is invisable. The device from the Obsidian Order has allowed him to mass broadcast his feelings, or emoitions or even thoughts forcivly to other which gives him a great edge in battle being that he can instill doubt into his quarry. Even cause them to stumble in their actions. He is not perfect yet but he will serve his purpose. HE also has no recolection of the operations we performed on him. as far as he knows he is only fighting for life, and freedome. After we sucessfully instill our own government we will move A<error>y off planet and facilitate his admission into SF academy. We will steer his career to meet our ends. He does have great potential and may be some use to us later in life even though he has no idea.
I will report back to you in 6 weeks
