USS Alliance - Technical

Est. April 20, 2004	A short overview of the technology involved... After twenty years of solid service, Starfleet Command decided the aging Galaxy class needed a major refit to remain one of the most formidable and capable vessels in service. After preliminary designs and tests were undertaken, it was soon realized the scope of improvement that was possible for little cost, as opposed to the Sovereign class. While not as refined and developed as the current Sovereign design, the new Galaxy Dreadnoughts became second to no other. In order to expand Far Point Fleet's tactical leverage on the sector, the old Galaxy class "Horatio Nelson" became one of the first few vessels to undergo this refit. Repainted Alliance-B and filled with experimental (and often unpredictable) enhancements, this chapter of our fiction charts her journeys. Additions to Galaxy Class: Ablative armor, plasma cannon, triple nacelle, double warpcore, five additonal phaser arrays, two additonal impulse engines, upgraded computer systems, enhanced structural integrity, multiphasic shield generators and classified pylons. 	Fighter Wing Being more of a tactical based vessel than its predecessor, the Galaxy Dreadnought has a much larger shuttle bay, with engineering capabilities and a squadron of three Talon class scout fighters. These are the same craft as seen in Insurrection, and are currently under the command of the Chief Helm Officer. There also is a squadron of five Valkyrie class fighters. Another addition are two Argos, as seen in Nemesis. Blueprints: Talon (1) Specifications: The Valkyrie fighters are approximately 9 meters in length, 4 meters in width, and 3 meters in height. While they are not capable of warp speed, there impulse speeds are comparable to most shuttle craft. The Valkyrie is armed with two forward Class I rapid fire phaser pulse cannon, positioned on the nose just in front of the cockpit, it also has two Micro photon torpedo tube with 100 rounds. In addition it is capable of carrying a single photon torpedo, or photon torpedo size, bomb on its underbelly. Its defensive systems consist of ablative armor, two shield generators, and other anti-torpedo countermeasures.
