Campaign Against Barriers at York Station

Success!

After taking over the East Coast Main Line franchise on 13th November 2009, the Department for Transport confirmed that plans for the ticket barriers at York Station had been abandoned “to preserve through access.”

CABYS has ceased operating, but many thanks to all those people who have campaigned tirelessly against the barriers. We also wish every success to those in Sheffield campaigning against barriers there which would cut off access through the station to the tram stop and the east side of the city.

The CABYS news blog can be found here. This will be updated on an occasional basis with information on barriers elsewhere or the rail industry generally.
