Campaign Against Barriers at York Station

CABYS was a campaign group formed in York to oppose the introduction of automatic ticket barriers at York station, which we believed were unnecessary, an obstruction to passengers and an eyesore within the historic environment of the station building.

In December 2009, the new DfT owned franchise, East Coast, which took over from National Express, abandoned plans to install the barriers.

The CABYS news blog can still be found here. This is still occasionally being updated with information about barriers or proposed barriers elsewhere.
